myCard App Reviews

Does what it claims to do

I was able to successfully send a single contact using both wi-fi and phone network. A few niggling issues: sends contact as vcard only - no option to send as text; sends a single contact only - no multiple contact selection; requires manual entry of destination email address - no contacts look-up; escapes "," i.e. dialing pauses, with a "" in phone numbers, but does not remove them in final vCard; text accompanying emailed contact (potentially) incorrectly references contact as "my contact information" when in fact it could be anyones; selection of contact fields to send is on a seperate page to contact detail - it would be a better user experience if they were integrated on the same page i.e. in preview.

Satisfactory if free

Lack of features, lack of people who have mycard, why would anyone pay to buy this thing? It would be alright if it was free, but I would still prefer pen and paper.

A keeper!

I always keep this app on my iPhone. Great easy vCard app!

The sent email is Spam

I do realize that this app is free. Still, I am not one to do the advertising for the company. I tried this and sent the email to myself. The result was a 6 sentence email. The first 2 sentences explain the attached file is a vCard that can imported, cool so far. The other 4 describe the app, the developer and their 25 iPhone apps. Plus, there is a link to view the developers apps. The cloud background is also not needed in business. I thought it might be cool in a setting where I dont have a real card to be able to send a vCard. The ability to select what data gets sent is a great idea too. But, I wont send a prospective client or contact an unexpected ad. That is by all definitions SPAM. Let me edit the content or remove background and ad, or charge for it. Personally I would use an app like this too little to pay for it but I would give it a much higher rating anyway.

Literally useless...

I have yet to get the app to work ... it crashes immediately as i try to assign my contact information as a business card.... and, now after reading a couple of the other reviews, that the app advertises itself as a part of the vcard being sent... this will immediately be deleted... its not my job to market Open Door Networks

Better than Treos beaming feature

One of the things I missed with the iPhone was the ability to beam an address to someone I just met. Now this is possible, and as a result, this application will be in a coveted spot on page 1 of my applications. I have tried it several times, and it always works great. Neither I nor the recipient is bothered by the advertising that comes with the beamed address. The only thing I would add is the ability to access the iPhones address book when e-mailing the card to someone else. Otherwise, it is great.

I wonder if they are collecting the senders e-mail addresses?

Since they are not using Mail.app to send the e-mail, and it takes a long time for the e-mail to reach the destination (I sent one to myself) I am wondering what Open Door Networks is doing with the information going in the door but not coming out. When the card finally arrived after 17 minutes I could see that Delayed for 00:17:11 by milter-greylist-4.0 of our mailer. Their included self-advertising is a link, which should say "If you own an iPhone and want to find out more, click here"

What a joke!!

Its a useless app, sends spam out and crashes. I prefer a beam program that actually works. Dont waste your time with this one.

If I could give it 0 stars I would

Even though this was free, I want a refund for the time I spent installing and trying out this junk. It crashes every time I pick a contact to be my card. The alternative desktop option resets every time you open the app. Did these people even test the app before they shipped it?

Just right!

This app does exactly what it claims to do. I used it at MacWorld to trade biz cards with several people. I was really wishing I could beam my card to someone, and voila! Thanks to Open Door!

Outstanding

I cant count the number of times I follow up a phone call by sending my contact info in an email. With myCard I can do that with just a few taps. Besides sending a vCard attachment of my card, I can "beam" it directly to another iPhone user running myCard. A big improvement over IR beam on old devices, as I can select which parts to send, and because its Internet based, you dont need proximity to make it work. Im not sure what the price will be after Mac World, but I would definitely buy it and recommend it.

Great idea but....

Great idea but still needs work: SMS Ability would be nice. We should be able to send vcard to people in the contact list. And finaly sending card to multiple contacts at once. Turn it into 5* app by adding these features.

Thet must have fixed it

Set up my info within 2 min Picked a skin off the web Emailed a card to myself Email contained: brief explanation of a vcard one line saying it was sent with mycard containing a link and the vcard The advertising was very minimal Worth a couple bucks, free was great! 6 stars ******

Needs Serious Work

Great idea but you cant email from contacts, you must type in the email address LOL! Also it does not send the entire cards info even thow you have it set to send all info. No address? What were you thinking? Address is a main line for a business. Put the pipe down and try again.

People are jerks

This app is great. It does exactly what it claims to do. Dont believe the negative reviews, it works.

Simple

Works well and is east to use. Emailed myself looks great.

Excellent App for Sending Business Card

This application is the best --- For the ablility to send Business Cards just in case you forget or run out business cards during presentations or client meeting or networking. You never have to worry running of business cards. One Option I would like to see if it would be possible to INCLUDE A SMALL COMMENT informing the receipiant why the contact info was sent. NOT A NOTE SECTION. Otherwise, Excellent Applicaiton for 99 Cents. Saves a lot of money on printing business cards.

As of 15 FEB 2009 myCard Works Great-Fast-Easy

This application works great! I transferred 18-20 contacts in a matter of minutes! There are no problems that I can see. I sent my contact info and other peoples contact info. I also received 3 cards from that person. I really think it is GREAT! Worth 99 cents.

Great app. Very handy for me.

Regularly, people ask me if I can send them someones phone number or address. Without cut and paste, I always have to write the info down and then type it back in. This app saves me tons of trouble. I loved this functionality on the Newton and am glad to have it back. 4 stars instead of 5 because it doesnt support SMS and it only lets you select phones numbers by Home, Work and Others. I need Others broken out a little more specifically, or at least to have Mobile separated out. Otherwise, its great.

nice application!

I downloaded this app before when it was free (thanks!)! It works great, can you please make it so that (data) cards can be sent in other formats? Example, some of my clients use "Thunderbird", which does not import data in CV format (Idif formats). As well, I e-mailed a client my card (they use Microsoft Office), and they said the only thing that came up was my e-mail and url to my website, not my phone numbers....why?
